Our Mission
To provide a wide variety of interesting and rigorous fantasy books for children, exposing them to both classical and modern stories in an entertaining way.
Our Story
We arrived at this mission due to a few trends we continue to see in our own lives and among our peers. First and foremost, we both know how much reading has personally impacted us: it helps us perform better in school, and is something we both love to do in our spare time. We are also aware that reading is a habit both of us developed at a young age. Because reading has been a core part of our schedule since early elementary school, it was easy for us to continue reading into middle school, high school, and later into our lives.

We chose to focus our efforts on only one genre, fantasy, for a handful of reasons. One is our own experiences having read a lot of fantasy; it's something we are well versed in. But more importantly, we know that fantasy has an innate appeal to children that other genres lack, and can serve as a stepping stone into classical literature and mythology. We are also confident that the value in fantasy books—which are often ignored in the educational curriculum—is immense. If you know where to look, fantasy has some of the highest quality prose, characters, and plot in modern writing.
Unfortunately, forming this habit can be difficult for those who aren’t already comfortable with reading. Our friends who don’t regularly read view it in an entirely different way from us: a tedious and useless task forced on them by school. Getting them to even try a book or series is challenging, and rarely do they have the energy to read past the first chapter. And so when we began to play with the idea of starting a nonprofit related to reading, we wanted to focus on the audience that we thought we could have the most impact on. In our case, this happened to be middle school and elementary students. A young kid that loves books and stories will hopefully keep that love for years to come, and grow more confident as a writer and reader along the way.

Together these factors pushed us towards where we are now, and our mission grew clearer by the day: to provide the thought-provoking and wondrous books we loved to a wider audience. And so, bit by bit, we assembled a comprehensive list to represent fantasy as best as we could. We hope that through our own efforts and the support of others, we are able to get more kids into reading; challenging them to grow into smarter and more skilled readers.
